Stop, Swap & Shop is pleased to have Tari Maxfield from Whispering Oak Alpacas participating with us on Sunday, June 23rd and throughout the season. Tari operates a family owned alpaca farm, on ten acres located in Prior Lake, Minnesota. There they sell, breed and board both Suri and Huacaya breeds of alpaca, and process their own alpaca fiber by sorting, carding and spinning it into yarn. The yarn is then knitted or crocheted into scarves, hats, socks, mittens and alpaca teddy bears, and sold at their own farm-located store plus at several outdoor venues across the Twin Cities. You may not know it, but alpacas are very people-friendly animal, and Whispering Oak Alpacas conducts tours of their farm. Call them up anytime to schedule time for your family to visit with the alpacas!
We invite you to come out this Sunday to meet Tari and learn more about these fascinating animals. She can tell you what it’s like to run an alpaca farm, how they shear their animals, and why alpacas are an important source of natural fiber utilized throughout the world today.
